CLERC AVOCATS, Partner of Xport Day 2026 in Le Havre

On June 10, 2026, Maître Thierry CLERC took part in Xport Day 2026, held in Le Havre at the CCI Seine Estuaire.

CLERC AVOCATS was a partner of this edition, dedicated to the international development of Normandy-based businesses, with a particular focus on Africa and the Middle East.

Organized by Team France Export Normandie, CCI Normandie, Business France and AD Normandie, the event aimed to support local businesses in their export development projects.

A day dedicated to internationally oriented businesses

Xport Day is an event designed for exporters, first-time exporters and, more broadly, companies seeking to develop their business internationally.

The 2026 edition focused on African and Middle Eastern markets, with a highly practical approach: identifying opportunities, discussions with experts, business meetings, thematic workshops, networking and visits to strategic sites in the port area of Le Havre.

The day enabled participating companies to gain a better understanding of the commercial, logistical, financial and legal issues involved in expanding beyond France.

CLERC AVOCATS’ participation

As a partner of the event, CLERC AVOCATS was present on site to speak with participating companies about legal issues relating to export and international trade.

Maître Thierry CLERC’s presence reflects the support provided by the firm to businesses in the areas of commercial law, international law, contracts, litigation, trade secrets, export/import and permanent establishment matters.

A company’s international development requires rigorous legal preparation. Commercial opportunities must be secured through appropriate contracts, anticipation of payment risks, control of customs obligations and particular attention to the protection of strategic information.

Topics at the heart of export challenges

The Xport Day 2026 programme included several key moments:

  • an opening plenary session
  • B2B meetings with Business France office directors, foreign principals and partners
  • thematic workshops
  • business networking time
  • site visits in the port area of Le Havre

The workshops focused in particular on:

  • demystifying Africa and the Middle East with export clubs
  • financing and securing transactions
  • artificial intelligence, digitalization and intellectual property
  • logistics, transport and customs

These topics illustrate the diversity of challenges faced by companies expanding internationally.

They also show that export is not solely a commercial undertaking. It involves a global strategy integrating law, logistics, taxation, customs, payment methods and dispute prevention.

Le Havre, a strategic area for export

The 2026 edition of Xport Day also highlighted the strategic role of Le Havre in international trade.

The visits organized in the port area gave participants a clearer understanding of the practical realities of export: container handling, dangerous goods, multimodal terminals and the organization of logistics flows.

For Normandy-based companies, this immersion served as an important reminder: international development also depends on understanding infrastructure, transport constraints, documentary obligations and the risks associated with the movement of goods.

Legally securing international development

For CLERC AVOCATS, participation in Xport Day 2026 forms part of its commitment to supporting companies in their domestic and international operations.

The firm assists in particular with the drafting and negotiation of commercial contracts, the securing of business relationships, dispute prevention and the resolution of commercial disputes.

In an international context, this support requires particular attention to several points:

  • the law applicable to the contract
  • jurisdiction or arbitration clauses
  • payment terms
  • contractual guarantees
  • customs obligations
  • liability in the event of delay, non-performance or termination
  • the protection of confidential information
  • risks relating to permanent establishment

These elements must be anticipated from the very structuring of the export project.

An edition rich in exchanges

The day provided an opportunity for numerous exchanges between companies, experts, institutional partners and international trade stakeholders.

CLERC AVOCATS thanks Team France Export Normandie, CCI Normandie, Business France, AD Normandie and all the partners involved in organizing this edition.

Xport Day 2026 confirms that export is an important growth driver for Normandy-based companies, provided that it is prepared methodically and legally secured.

CLERC AVOCATS supports companies in their international development projects, from contract negotiation to the resolution of commercial disputes.
